Nyungwe House Rwanda

by MrVagabond / Tuesday, 08 January 2019 / Published in Africa, Luxe Life, Travel, Videos

As I begin to think about my next escape from the city, my mind immediately drifts to a luxury hotel that offers tranquility, total privacy and a strong sense of adventure.

Some hotels are utterly unforgettable and the One & Only Nyungwe House is worthy of this claim. A remote location led by an amazing staff. A great selection of fine wine with a stylish villa to match. And most importantly, countless incredibly tailored moments for each guest!

The Scene

Located in Southwest Rwanda, along the edge of the iconic Nyungwe Forest, the One & Only Nyungwe House sits on a working tea plantation offering a personal invitation into Africa’s wildlife and culture.

It’s home to 275 species of birds (some only found in Rwanda), stunning orchids, an expansive tea plantation (my favorite spot for a private dinner) and a range of beauty & wellness treatment all inspired by nature.

From the moment you arrive, you will be amazed at every turn!

Rooms

There are 22 rustic-styled luxury rooms and suites, each equipped with a furnished balcony that opens up to forest and mountain views – easy for spotting wild life roaming freely.

Food & Drink

From “Farm to Table“, there’s inspiration and freshness in every dish at Nyungwe House. Meals can be enjoyed at the:

Main Dining Room with views of the forest in the backdrop.

Dining Alongside the Tea Plantation surrounded by the soothing beats of nature.

Around the Bond Fire while the bartender plays his guitar in-between making cocktails.

Inside the Tea Lounge & Bar.

Activities

Nyungwe House is the perfect blend of luxury and adventure. Here are a few activities you can enjoy during your stay:

Canopy Walk

The Secrets of African Tea

Spear Throwing

Nyungwe Nature Bike Ride

Strengths

Nightly rate includes 3 meals per day including soft drink.

Plenty of experiential activities (many that are free of charge) to keep guests busy.

An infinity pool overlooking the forest.

An incredible team of staff to ensure your stay is memorable.

Things to Consider

Due to its remote location, getting to Nyungwe House takes time and can be costly if you do not plan in advance. After arriving at Kigali international Airport, you will have to take another short flight via Rwanda Air to Kamembe Airstrip. From Kamembe, the drive to Nyungwe is another 45 minutes.

Alternatively, the drive from Kigali to the hotel is 5-6 hours each way and slightly expensive (especially if you’re a solo traveler), however, the views along the way are amazing!

Enjoy and I wish you an amazing stay at the One & Only Nyungwe House in Rwanda!
